This year marks the 90th anniversary of the death of poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, who was murdered on August 8, 1936, by rebel forces. His friend Alfonso Ponce de León was also a victim of the violence of the Spanish Civil War, having been executed by Republicans, according to El Mundo.

Margarita Manso, Ponce de León's wife and the only woman for whom Lorca felt a strong attraction, survived both of them. Her story has become intertwined with the tragedies of these two men during a time marked by repression and conflict.

The life and work of García Lorca, who was born in Spain and died at the age of 38, remain relevant today. His legacy endures through his works and phrases, which continue to be remembered, highlights La Nación.

According to Clarín, the site where García Lorca's remains are believed to be buried, El Peñón del Colorado in Alfacar, has been the subject of excavations for years. Although the search for his remains has ceased, interest in his life and that of other victims from that period continues.

New research and documents from the era have revived interest in Lorca's figure, while the recent discovery of a possible poem, along with songs and images, continues to expand the Lorca universe.
