Bart Lemmen claims first professional victory and takes the lead in Tour of Poland
Bart Lemmen has achieved his first victory as a professional in the Tour of Poland, where the race was interrupted by a major crash.
On Thursday, Bart Lemmen secured his first professional victory in the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland. The 30-year-old rider from Visma-Lease a Bike crossed the finish line alone, claiming the lead in the general classification as well.
The fourth stage was originally 176 kilometers long but was neutralized and shortened by fifteen kilometers after a serious crash. A heavy downpour caused a significant portion of the peloton to slide out during a descent, resulting in the interruption of the race.
João Almeida from UAE was involved in the crash and saw his chances for a strong overall result evaporate. The repercussions of the incident have affected several riders in the peloton.
