The introduction of the medication tafenoquine, which has been available through the Unified Health System (SUS) since 2024, is highlighted as one of the reasons for this reduction. The drug, administered in a single dose, aims to prevent the manifestation of the disease.

Besides the overall decrease in cases, there was a 30.7% reduction in cases of the most severe form of malaria, according to various sources. The analysis of this data reflects ongoing efforts in combating the disease.
