British man arrested in Gran Canaria for sexual offenses against minors

Agents of the National Police detained a British citizen in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, who was under an International Arrest and Surrender Order (OIDE) issued by UK judicial authorities. This arrest occurred due to his alleged involvement in eight sexual offenses committed against minors in his home country.

According to ABC, the detainee had previously been arrested in the UK on the same charges but was released on bail before fleeing to Gran Canaria. Investigations revealed that he had moved to Spain, where he was located and ultimately apprehended by Spanish authorities.

On the other hand, 20minutos also confirms that the arrest was the result of the sexual assaults allegedly committed in the UK, which raised an international alert for his capture.

Authorities are now handling the extradition process, in accordance with the laws applicable between the two countries, while continuing the necessary proceedings to address the charges against him.
