Economic Performance in Latin America During the Second Quarter of 2026
In the second quarter of 2026, the Chilean economy contracted, while Venezuela and Colombia reported growth.

According to the Central Bank of Chile, the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded an annual contraction of -0.2% in the second quarter of 2026, following a decline of -0.3% observed in the first quarter. This figure could suggest that the Chilean economy has entered a technical recession, although this has not been officially confirmed.
On the other hand, the Colombian economy grew by 3.5% during the same period, according to reports from Infobae. This advancement highlights a notable contrast with the results from Chile and could indicate a more favorable economic situation in Colombia.
Venezuela, in contrast, experienced growth of 7.14% in the second quarter of 2026, driven by an increase in oil production. The Central Bank of Venezuela indicated that all sectors of the economy showed progress, with financial and insurance activities, as well as construction, seeing the most significant growth.
