Election campaign officially begins this Sunday across Brazil
Candidates are authorized to campaign starting this Sunday (August 16), with various activities planned nationwide.

The 2026 election campaign in Brazil officially starts this Sunday, August 16. From this date, candidates are allowed to hold rallies, marches, debates, and to promote their proposals on radio, television, and the internet, while adhering to the rules set by the Electoral Court.
In Amapá, the race for governor and the Senate will feature well-known political figures and new candidates, as permitted by legislation. Candidates must organize events and activities to promote their campaigns and win voters' support.
Presidential candidates will also kick off their campaigns on the same day. Explicit campaigning in the streets, including car caravans and marches, is now permitted, although advertising on TV and radio will only begin on August 28.

The campaign rules stipulate that candidates may use loudspeakers and sound amplifiers during campaign services, provided they respect the designated times and sectoral limits. Additionally, distributing printed material to assist in promoting their proposals is allowed.
However, it is important to note that while campaigns start on August 16, electronic advertising on TV and radio will not commence until the end of August, meaning that most campaigns will initially focus on the internet and live events.
With these changes, candidates are seeking to increase their visibility and interaction with voters ahead of the elections scheduled for the first round on October 4, 2026.
