Heavy rain curbs forest fire in the province of Udine
Heavy rainfall has slowed the relentless advance of a forest fire in the province of Udine, but extinguishing efforts remain necessary.

In the northern Italian province of Udine, a forest fire has been raging on Monte Amariana for ten days. According to reports from Südtirol News and DER STANDARD, heavy rains and diminishing winds have led to a temporary control of the fire front. Several millimeters of rain fell per square meter within a few hours.
Despite the rainfall, the flames could not be completely extinguished. According to Kleine Zeitung, firefighting planes and helicopters are still in operation to combat the blaze. These measures are essential as the fire continues to pose a threat.
The situation remains tense, even though the rain has provided some relief. ORF reports that extinguishing efforts are ongoing to secure the areas that have not yet been extinguished.
