Legislative and Sectoral Proposals in Argentina and Costa Rica
Biofuels SMEs in Argentina are calling for an increase in biodiesel blending, while Costa Rica advances in surname selection.

The biofuels sector chamber in Argentina has proposed increasing the biodiesel blend to 12.5%. This request arises in response to a project led by Patricia Bullrich, which, according to SMEs, could gradually reduce the market for independent producers. The SMEs' proposal suggests a blend divided into three segments and the implementation of competition through tenders, creating a more encouraging framework for small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector.
On another note, in the legislative arena, Congressman Sebastián Nóblega from Catamarca has introduced a project seeking for León XIV to preside over the Legislative Assembly during his visit to Argentina. Nóblega has requested support from various party factions, anticipating that the itinerary will include cities such as Buenos Aires, Luján, and Córdoba.

In another development, a Costa Rican lawmaker has proposed an initiative that would allow families to choose the order of their children's surnames. This proposal aims to close a legal gap that has persisted following a ruling by the Constitutional Court, ensuring that mothers and fathers can equitably decide which surname will be registered first for their children.
These initiatives reflect the concerns and needs of different sectors in Latin America, from promoting renewable energy to addressing family dynamics and surname order, showcasing a diverse and active legislative agenda.
