Life sentence for deadly car attack on ver.di demonstration in Munich
A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the fatal attack on a ver.di demonstration in Munich. The court also assessed the particular gravity of the offense.
In the trial concerning the fatal incident where a man drove a car into a demonstration procession of the union ver.di, a 25-year-old defendant was convicted. The Higher Regional Court ruled that he must serve a life sentence and highlighted the particular gravity of the offense.
The attack, which resulted in the deaths of a woman and her two-year-old child, also left more than 40 people severely injured. The perpetrator is reported to be from Afghanistan.
