Tarun Tejpal sentenced to 10 years for rape of colleague
The Indian journalist faces a decade in prison after his acquittal was overturned by a court.

An Indian court has sentenced journalist Tarun Tejpal to ten years in prison for the rape of a junior colleague. This ruling reverses a previous acquittal issued in 2021 in a high-profile case that had garnered national attention.
Tejpal, who is 63 years old and known as the founder and former editor of Tehelka magazine, was convicted for an incident that took place in the elevator of a five-star hotel.
Despite the conviction, Tarun Tejpal has denied the allegations and retains the option to appeal the court's decision to India's Supreme Court.
