According to the Direção-Geral de Estatísticas da Educação e da Ciência (DGEEC), 38 private schools have been identified for their exceptionally high academic results. Among these institutions, 21 have shown consistent performance over the last eight years, maintaining standards of excellence in their assessments.

According to a recently released report, more than one-third of students from these 38 schools achieved scores of 19 or 20 in at least one subject for the 2024/2025 academic year. This outcome indicates a high level of academic achievement among the students at these institutions.

In addition to the 21 private schools, only three public schools managed to reach the same threshold of very high scores, as reported by the same sources.

The analysis emphasizes the consistent academic performance of the schools that have repeatedly achieved very high scores, raising questions about the pedagogical methods and student preparation at these institutions. The DGEEC did not provide additional information on the specific characteristics of these schools.

The 38 private schools that achieved high scores and the 21 that stand out for their regularity in rankings are located in various parts of the country, although specific details are not known from the data released.

This revelation from the DGEEC may contribute to greater scrutiny regarding the equity and quality of the educational system, being a relevant topic for parents and education experts.
