Chinese President Xi Jinping has mandated intensified search and rescue efforts in response to the tragedy, as well as urgent measures for accountability and a thorough investigation into the incident.

Various news outlets have reported differing numbers regarding the casualties, highlighting inconsistencies in the initial accounts. While the South China Morning Post confirmed 25 fatalities, other sources mentioned a smaller number of at least 20 dead and five missing, illustrating the evolving nature of the situation as more information is confirmed.
