35 years ago, 20,000 Albanians landed in Bari, today the celebrations
The mayor of Bari recalled the welcoming received by Albanians in 1991, while Kledi Kadiu celebrates his connection to that historical moment.
Today, Bari commemorates the 35th anniversary of the landing of approximately 20,000 Albanians that took place in 1991. During the event, Mayor Leccese emphasized that the welcome was a demonstration of the great human compassion of the people of Bari.
Dancer Kledi Kadiu expressed pride in being part of that group of refugees, but also noted how the world has changed since then. The gathering drew attention to the history and the importance of solidarity.
