In recent days, severe weather in India and Nepal has led to landslides and flooding. According to officials, at least 70 people have died, with 56 fatalities reported in India and 14 in Nepal. The adverse weather conditions are a result of heavy rainfall that has hit the region.

In India, the state of Uttar Pradesh has particularly suffered from the extreme weather conditions. Authorities there reported several injuries and over 1,000 homes damaged or destroyed. Additionally, a total of eleven people have been reported missing in Nepal, further complicating the situation.

Rescue teams are active in the affected areas to distribute relief supplies and search for missing persons. The emergency services are working to mitigate damages and extend assistance as quickly as possible. In many regions, the infrastructure is under strain.

Authorities have warned of the risk of further flash floods. Given the forecasts, they expect significant rainfall to continue, particularly in the elevated areas of the Himalayan region.

In the last 48 hours, reports of persistent rainfall have emerged, causing rivers to overflow their banks and triggering massive landslides. Local media reported that these conditions could have drastic effects on the livelihoods of residents.

Currently, hundreds of people are also residing in emergency shelters due to their homes being damaged or rendered uninhabitable. Authorities have urged caution and are monitoring the situation in affected areas to respond swiftly to potential emergencies.
