AI-Generated Music Banned from Australia's Official Charts
Starting Friday, songs created predominantly by artificial intelligence will no longer feature on Australia’s official music charts.

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has announced that from this Friday, songs created mostly or entirely by artificial intelligence will be excluded from the country’s official music charts. This decision is part of new guidelines aimed at preserving what the organization describes as 'the human nature of artistry.'
According to the guidelines, music must be considered 'substantially human made' in order to qualify for the charts. The ARIA highlighted that wholly AI-generated tracks will be ineligible, emphasizing the importance of human involvement in the creation process.

The move follows a controversy in which a cover of Madonna's 'Like a Prayer,' reportedly generated by AI, topped the charts. This sparked discussions within the industry about the implications of AI in music creation.
By implementing these restrictions, ARIA aims to safeguard the integrity of artistic expression in the Australian music landscape, ensuring that human creativity remains at the forefront of chart eligibility.
