On Tuesday, October 13, Nuremberg Airport was temporarily closed due to a so-called air emergency. According to a spokesperson for the airport, the incident was related to a plane arriving from the Greek island of Corfu. The aircraft transmitted an emergency code during its landing approach, prompting the police to respond swiftly.

As part of the operation, several Eurofighters took off to escort the affected plane. The exact circumstances of the incident could not initially be clarified; however, the police responded with a large number of personnel and cordoned off the airport area to ensure safety.

After a brief investigation and the necessary procedures, the police were finally able to declare an all clear. The passengers and pilots of the plane from Corfu were reported to be safe, posing no further danger. Airport operations could then resume.

Authorities continued to investigate the background of the incident. However, it remains unclear why the emergency code was transmitted. The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Nuremberg Airport, which diminished reports of a potential threat.

The media extensively covered the incident, highlighting both the airport's closure and the deployment of the Eurofighters. According to various reports, it may have involved an unconfirmed sighting of a drone, although this has not been officially confirmed.

In this context, the police urged the public to avoid further speculation until all information is available. The incident was taken seriously, even though the all clear was given quickly and no further measures were necessary.
