The German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) has found a new head coach for the national ice hockey team. Following the departure of Harold Kreis due to a disappointing World Championship in May, André Rankel will take on the role.
Rankel's official introduction is scheduled for Thursday in Munich. The DEB has yet to release any details regarding the appointment, other than the name.
Several media outlets report that the 40-year-old Rankel, a former national player himself, will succeed Harold Kreis. His confirmation by the DEB is expected soon.
Rankel is expected to lead the national team back to its former strength and restore the success of German ice hockey. More information about his new coaching position is anticipated during the presentation.
