António José Seguro emphasizes the construction of national sovereignty
The President of the Republic argued that sovereignty should be built through knowledge across the country, not just in Lisbon.

António José Seguro emphasized this Friday, on the Day of the Municipality of Batalha, that national sovereignty is built through local knowledge and community participation, stressing that this should not be limited to the city of Lisbon.
During his speech, he referenced the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385, when Portugal's independence was at risk, highlighting the importance of history in shaping national identity.
The President also called for a need to strengthen science, innovation, and territorial cohesion as ways to ensure the country's decision-making capacity. This call was emphasized in the context of developing knowledge and community involvement.
