The port of Antwerp will welcome the largest carillon in the world within two years, a project by entrepreneur Fernand Huts. This unique attraction, the Singelberg Carillon, will be built on the left bank of the port, near the headquarters of his company Katoen Natie in Kallo.

The carillon will consist of 81 bells weighing a total of 60 tons of bronze, making it the largest carillon in the world. The first bell was recently cast in Asten, Netherlands, where the presentation of the bells took place.

According to reports, Huts aims to revive the carillon culture with this project and perform musical pieces that could not previously be presented in Europe. This approach targets a broader audience and hopes to enrich the culture of the region.

The project has also drawn attention due to the debate over placing the carillon in a port environment. Critics question whether this type of cultural attraction is suitable for the location, while others emphasize its value to the region.

In addition to the carillon itself, various carillon concerts are announced to take place in the port. This is expected to add a new dimension to musical activities in the area and enhance the port's appeal.

Fernand Huts' initiative is seen as a prestige project. The entrepreneur is determined to create not only a new landmark with the construction of the carillon but also to highlight the musical tradition of the carillon.
