According to the current ARD-DeutschlandTrend, a majority of Germans regard the manufacturers themselves as responsible for the crisis in the auto industry. This perception is supported by the economic difficulties facing the sector.

Despite this assessment, many respondents advocate for state aid to support the auto industry. The survey results suggest that the public expects an active role for the government in addressing the crisis.

Additionally, the Münchner Merkur reports that Volkswagen's austerity measures further highlight the current situation in the industry. Respondents view finding solutions to the crisis as urgent, with financial support from the state seen as a possible remedy.
