At least one dead and several injured in Rotterdam port explosion

At least one person has died following an explosion in Rotterdam's Europoort shortly after noon. This has been reported by the police following coverage by RTV Rijnmond.

The explosion occurred at a storage tank in the port area, where multiple individuals have also been injured. The exact number of injured is not yet known.

The police have confirmed that the incident took place at a company on Moezelweg, but currently have no further information available. The situation is still under investigation.

Earlier in the day, network operator Stedin reported a power outage in the same area. This may have led to a fire in a transformer house.
