Austria negotiates return center in Uganda

Austria is in advanced negotiations with Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Greece regarding the establishment of a return center in Uganda. According to reports from the Greek newspaper "Kathimerini," the facility could begin operating as a pilot project by 2027.

The discussions include both the creation of infrastructure and the future of rejected asylum seekers. Reports suggest that up to 10,000 individuals are expected to be accommodated in the center.

In addition to Uganda, media reports indicate that Rwanda and Kenya are also being considered as potential alternatives for the return center. These discussions have elicited various responses in the participating countries.

However, diplomatic sources have not disclosed specific details about the exact location of the center or the legal framework. Negotiations are ongoing as the involved countries seek solutions to manage migration.
