Azores government advances in creating air route fund
The Azorean Executive is developing a fund aimed at air routes, focusing on mobility and tourism.

The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility, and Infrastructure of the Azores, Berta Cabral, stated that the regional government is seriously working on the creation of an air route fund for the region. According to her, the goal is to develop an effective instrument that is legally robust and aligned with the needs of the Azorean reality.
This fund will be evaluated by a multidisciplinary working group established by the Government of the Azores. The group will focus not only on the feasibility of the fund but also on analyzing its impact on the tourism sector and the mobility of residents.
The work being carried out aims to ensure that the fund adapts to the specifics of the region, considering the particularities of the air transport market in the Azores.
Secretary Berta Cabral mentioned that the government is committed to creating a solid solution that can address the challenges of the region's air connectivity. This effort arises in response to an increasing need for improvements in accessibility and flight availability.
Additional information regarding the plan and the composition of the working group has not yet been disclosed, but expectations are that it will discuss best practices and existing models that can be applied to the Azores.
The initiative represents a step toward improving transportation infrastructure in the region, addressing the connection between the islands and the mainland, as well as attracting tourists, which are essential for the Azorean economy.
