Ban on far-right gathering in Lyon

The Rhône prefecture has decided to ban a far-right gathering that was set to take place in Vieux Lyon this Sunday. This event, organized by nationalist and identity-focused groups, promoted an initiative called 'remigration'.

According to the prefecture, this ban is justified by the risk of public order disturbances. The prefect mentioned the planning of an antifascist and antiracist counter-demonstration organized by leftist groups and unions, which could lead to tensions.

The collective behind the march, titled 'Objectif Remigration', is described as promoting ideas aligned with a far-right European offensive. Its project has raised questions about its objectives and the extent of its support.
