Carneiro and Assis respond to Hugo Soares' comparisons between PS and Chega
Following criticism from Hugo Soares, Carneiro and Assis defend the differences between PS and Chega, deeming the comparison unacceptable.

Hugo Soares, a member of the Chega party, criticized the stance of other political leaders on Sunday, including André Carneiro and MEP Francisco Assis. Soares stated that Carneiro and Ventura are 'increasingly similar', suggesting that both 'navigate in populism' and display 'unpreparedness to be alternatives' to the current government.
In response to these statements, André Carneiro emphasized that the comparisons made by Soares are 'unacceptable' and 'frivolous'. This position highlights Carneiro's determination to refute the criticisms linking him to Ventura, the leader of Chega.
Francisco Assis also voiced his opposition to Soares' claims, asserting that the analogy made between the Socialist Party (PS) and Chega is an 'impossible identification'. The socialist MEP reaffirmed that significant differences exist between the two political formations.

Assis reiterated that one cannot equate the PS with a party that advocates extreme positions like those of Chega, stressing the importance of recognizing these distinctions in Portuguese politics.
The interventions from Carneiro and Assis reflect a need to defend the political identity of each party in response to Soares' accusations, aimed at creating a parallel between these two party figures.
