Catholic Schools NSW Chief Criticizes Reformers' Efforts in Inquiry

Dallas McInerney, the chief executive of Catholic Schools NSW, testified at the Icac corruption inquiry regarding the activities of a Christian faction within the New South Wales Liberal Party. He described the group, which included allies of federal opposition leader Angus Taylor, as ‘spectacularly unsuccessful’ in their efforts to gain control of the party.

McInerney commented on the faction's motivations, indicating that their actions were driven by a sense of ‘a calling... a duty’. However, he expressed that their attempts at influence fell short of their ambitions.

During the inquiry, McInerney also revealed his personal aspirations to run for the Liberal Party as a senator, which he claimed were ultimately thwarted. This adds context to the internal dynamics and political struggles spoken of in the inquiry.
