Champions League: FC Bayern without goalkeeper Neuer against Stavanger

FC Bayern Munich will be without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for their upcoming Champions League match against Viking Stavanger. According to tagesschau.de, Neuer is suffering from an injury that prevents him from participating in this crucial game.

Coach Vincent Kompany has announced that he will start Jonas Urbig in goal in Neuer's absence. This decision has also been reported by other sources, including Der Tagesspiegel, which analyze the situation surrounding the Bayern goalkeeper status and the uncertainty about Neuer's potential return.

Additionally, there is the question of how FC Bayern will deal with the unique conditions of playing on artificial turf. Sporting director Max Eberl emphasized that there are no fundamental doubts regarding the team's role distribution, but it remains unclear whether and how the conditions will impact performance.

There has also been criticism of the abrupt disruption of the team's rest when unknown individuals set off fireworks outside the Bayern hotel in Stavanger. This could pose additional distractions for the team, which needs to stay prepared and focused for the game.

The Munich side's match preparations are further affected by Neuer's injury and the adjustment of the goalkeeper position. However, Kompany has stated that despite these challenges, the team remains clearly focused on the upcoming match.

Overall, the match is seen as a significant challenge for FC Bayern, especially considering the exceptional situation with a talented yet inexperienced goalkeeper in an important European competition. The Munich team will need to prove their qualities on the artificial turf, which could be an additional factor for their success.
