Chancellor Christian Stocker met Turkish President Erdoğan in Ankara on Monday to discuss economic and migration issues.

Chancellor Christian Stocker met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara on Monday. He was accompanied by Infrastructure Minister Peter Hanke and Wolfgang Hesoun, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
The discussions focused on economic cooperation between Austria and Turkey, as well as on geopolitical challenges. According to reports, topics included the war in Ukraine and the security situation in the Middle East.
Migration issues were also a central theme of the talks. Stocker emphasized the need to find pragmatic solutions to common challenges, particularly in areas where both countries share interests.

During the meeting, Stocker expressed a desire for 'pragmatic cooperation' with Turkey and invited Erdoğan to visit Austria to further deepen bilateral relations.
The visit to Ankara underscores the strategic importance of cooperation between both countries, especially in light of ongoing geopolitical tensions and economic challenges in Europe.
