Christine Lagarde: Europe must seize the AI revolution
Christine Lagarde, president of the ECB, highlights Europe's challenges regarding AI and calls for swift action.

Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank (ECB), stated that Europe has largely missed the first digital revolution. She expressed concerns about Europe’s ability to not miss the second revolution, centered on artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Lagarde, while Europe is well-positioned to leverage emerging technologies, it struggles to convert knowledge into commercial success. She noted that this lag could be fatal in the context of global competition.
The ECB president pointed out that the AI market is attracting massive investments but is primarily dominated by American and Chinese companies. She emphasized the importance for Europe to take action to avoid falling behind in this new technological era.
