CJI Condemns Misuse of Court Proceedings as France's Top Court Blocks Social Media Ban

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant addressed concerns regarding the misuse of live-streamed court proceedings on social media, emphasizing that videos of such proceedings should not be exploited for commercial gain. He remarked that his earlier comments, which included a reference to 'cockroaches', were taken out of context and amounted to a malicious attempt to mislead younger audiences.

In a separate legal development, France's Constitutional Council ruled against a proposed ban on social media access for children under 15. The court stated that prohibiting access to platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube would infringe upon the freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution.
