Eric Gerets, regarded as a club legend at both PSV and Club Brugge, looked ahead to the match and praised the playing style of the Bruges coach, which did not go unnoticed in the buildup to this clash.

During the match, Club Brugge wore special shirts featuring the text 'No Heart, No Glory' in support of the Club Brugge Foundation. This initiative was made possible in collaboration with shirt sponsor Betsson.

With this victory, Club Brugge currently sits tied for fourth in the Champions League group stage, with 9 points from a possible 12. PSV, on the other hand, faces concerns regarding their progress in the tournament.
