Coimbra students protest against reduced exam time allowance
University students blocked access to the School Palace to demand the restoration of supplementary exam time, which has been cut to half an hour.

Students at the University of Coimbra gathered at the Porta Férrea starting at 10am to protest against the reduction in supplementary time granted for exams. During the demonstration, the students blocked the passage to the Paço das Escolas and demanded that "Extended exam time is not a privilege, it is a right."
According to available information, the Faculty of Law in Coimbra implemented a decision effective since June that limits additional exam time. According to reports, the faculty decided that all students with special needs who previously benefited from supplementary time to take exams would henceforth receive only half an hour.
The director of the Faculty of Law stated that the decision is irreversible. The institution justified the measure by citing what it described as an "alarming" increase in requests for supplementary time and considerations regarding the credibility of assessment.
