André Ventura, leader of Chega, stated that he has no doubts that José Luís Carneiro of the Socialist Party (PS) deserves the "Nobel Prize for hypocrisy." This statement comes in response to Chega's support for the rent law proposed by the government, which was approved in Parliament due to Chega's abstention, leading Ventura to accuse Carneiro of hypocrisy for criticizing the law in question.

Ventura blamed the left for the housing crisis in Portugal, indicating that the PS is one of those responsible for the situation. His criticisms were made during a speech where he pointed out that the government has not done enough to resolve the country's housing problems, labeling Carneiro as "hypocritical" for his stance on the issue.

Chega challenged the socialists to approve a package of measures for housing and is negotiating with the government a temporary exemption from Municipal Property Tax (IMI) as part of the State Budget, according to reports from various sources. Ventura hopes this package will bring solutions to the crisis. However, the PS has faced criticism for not acting decisively on the matter.

At a press conference, the PSD pointed out the PS as the "evident responsible" for the housing crisis, reiterating accusations of a lack of effective action. Alexandre Poço, vice-president of the PSD, expressed the party's willingness to discuss new solutions to the housing problem with other political formations and criticized the government's stance on this issue.

In a similar vein, the PSD accused the PS of "lack of decorum" in its actions related to housing. The exchanges between the parties reflect a climate of tension and mutual accusations from those opposing the socialist leadership in the government.

The debate over responsibility for the housing crisis continues, with various claims from party leaders. The positions of Chega and the PSD highlight a clear division among political forces regarding how to address the crisis and the solutions to be implemented to protect citizens.
