The administrative court in Nice has suspended the mayor of Mandelieu-La Napoule's order prohibiting the burkini on the municipality's beaches. This decision follows a request from the League of Human Rights, which challenged the legitimacy of this ban.

The court ruled that the town had provided no evidence demonstrating that the use of the burkini posed a risk to the safety of beachgoers and swimmers. This led to the conclusion that the order infringed upon three fundamental freedoms.

Mayor Sébastien Leroy expressed his concerns regarding this decision, describing it as a "disconnection" from the reality of the local situation. He had implemented the ban to regulate access to the beaches in his municipality.
