Death toll from earthquake in Colombia reaches 314
The earthquake that struck Colombia has raised the death toll to 314, with 262 people still missing, according to the Colombian government.

The death toll from the earthquake that struck Colombia last week has risen to 314, as announced by government authorities. The quake, which occurred on August 10, severely impacted the central and western regions of the country, causing extensive damage in various areas.
According to President Abelardo De La Espriella, in addition to the fatalities, there are still 262 people reported missing. Rescue operations and searches for survivors continue in several affected regions.
It is estimated that the tremor affected approximately 262,000 people and impacted 471 municipalities across 15 departments in the country, according to information from the national disaster management agency.

Rescue teams are actively working amongst the rubble as authorities assess the damage and attempt to provide aid to the most affected areas. The situation is critical, with many families displaced and in need of immediate assistance.
Recently, the Colombian government received 77.6 tons of humanitarian aid donated by China, aimed at supporting relief efforts in the regions affected by the earthquake. This international aid is an important step in alleviating the hardships faced by survivors.
Despite the efforts of authorities and rescue teams, significant challenges remain in recovering from the devastated areas, and officials continue to conduct assessments to determine the total extent of the damage and priority needs.
