Death Toll in Assam Floods Reaches 100, Affected Population Nears 1.4 Lakh
Flooding in Assam has led to 100 deaths and almost 1.4 lakh people affected, with several areas still under threat from rising waters, according to officials.

Severe flooding in Assam has resulted in a death toll of 100, with nearly 1.4 lakh people affected, as reported by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). In the last 24 hours, an additional person drowned in floodwaters in both Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts.
The ASDMA noted that several rivers have exceeded their danger marks, putting new areas at risk, with Golaghat identified as the worst-hit district. This area alone has seen nearly 70,000 residents impacted by the floods.
Heavy monsoon rains have caused significant overflow in rivers, including the Brahmaputra, leading to widespread inundation of communities. The affected districts also include Sivasagar, Hojai, Darrang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Charaideo, Nagaon, and Biswanath.
