Discovery of a Roman Shipwreck off Sicily

Off the coast of Sicily, Italian divers have discovered an ancient Roman shipwreck. The discovery occurred at a depth of 46 meters, and the wreck is filled to the brim with hundreds of amphorae.

According to reports, the shipwreck is at least 2,100 years old. Local fishermen, who had previously drawn attention to the wreck, provided the information regarding its location.

A special police unit conducted diving operations and confirmed the find of the preserved ship and its valuable cargo. The condition of the amphorae is considered remarkably good.

Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli has described the find as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in recent years, underscoring the importance of the discovery.
