Disruptions in Public Transport in Île-de-France Due to September 29 Strike
Severe disruptions are expected in Île-de-France's transport network on Tuesday due to a public service strike call.

Severe disruptions are expected on several transport lines in Île-de-France on Tuesday, September 29. This announcement follows a strike call from public service unions, notably in response to a recent freeze on the index point. According to information provided by SNCF Voyageurs and Île-de-France Mobilités, significant disturbances are mainly anticipated on the RER D, as well as the RER C and E. However, the metropolitan network and SNCF lines are expected to be less affected.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation also mentioned implications for aviation, with a request made to airlines to reduce their flight schedules in order to minimize disruptions and ensure operational safety. About 5% of flights departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport have been canceled, while at Marseille-Provence, the cancellation rate stands at 25%.
Unions, including CGT and CFDT, have mobilized protesters across France to demand salary increases within the public service and adequate budgetary means for public service missions. Protests are expected, with over 170 gatherings organized throughout the country.

Conflicting estimates are circulating regarding participation in this day of strike. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 206,000 protesters have been counted, while CGT reports a figure of 300,000. Testimonies collected indicate that nearly 10% of public service agents responded to the strike call, demonstrating significant support for the movement.
The unions' demands are not limited to a mere salary increase. Protesters are also highlighting the need to improve working conditions, purchasing power, and funding for public service missions. Occupations involved in the mobilization include teachers, police officers, and municipal agents.
The day of mobilization takes place in a context where unions are seeking to exert pressure on the government just days before the announcement of the 2027 budget. Actions such as blockades of high schools have also been reported, reinforcing the scale of the public service workers' movement.
