Erdogan plans Mecca defense pact with Egypt and other countries
A new defense pact inspired by NATO is being initiated by Turkey. Egypt may join to manage regional crises independently.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planning to initiate a defense pact known as the "Mecca Pact," modeled after NATO. In addition to Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are already part of this initiative.
Erdogan expressed the desire for more countries to join this pact, in the context of external powers being unable to resolve regional crises, in his view.
