Espresso prices in Italy continue to rise
Prices for espresso in Italy are increasing, making coffee enjoyment increasingly expensive.

In Italy, a country with high coffee consumption, the prices for espresso are continuously rising. According to Südtirol News, a cup now costs about 25 cents more than five years ago, representing an increase of around 25 percent. The days of enjoying an espresso for one euro seem to be over.
The press reports that it is not uncommon to pay as much as 1.50 euros for an espresso. Particularly in Sicily, cheaper prices can still be found, but this could become a problem for many local operators as coffee is increasingly consumed at home.
The highest price level was observed in Bolzano, where an average price of 1.51 euros for an espresso was recorded. In other cities like Trieste, Padua, Belluno, Trento, Treviso, and Udine, espresso prices around one euro are still available, representing a significant price difference for consumers.
