Etna eruption causes flight cancellations at Catania Airport
Due to volcanic ash, Catania Airport has restricted incoming flights, while departures remain unaffected.

Catania Airport in Sicily suspended incoming flights on Monday as ash from the Etna eruption affected air quality. According to aeroTELEGRAPH, the airspace sector C1, located southwest of the airport, has been closed. Arrivals are expected to remain suspended until 5 PM local time.
There have been repeated flight restrictions at the airport for several days due to the Etna eruption and changing wind conditions. Departures are not affected by the measures; however, many holidaymakers are stranded due to the cancellations, as reported by the Tages-Anzeiger.
