EU approves €6.1 billion for Ukraine's defense
The European Commission has authorized new military funding for Ukraine, announcing the support on the country's Independence Day.

The European Commission announced today the approval of a new military aid package for Ukraine, amounting to €6.1 billion. This funding is aimed at strengthening the country's defense, particularly in air defense systems, missiles, ammunition, and radars.
The decision was announced to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union. The date is particularly relevant amidst intensified Russian attacks with ballistic missiles and drones, hitting Ukrainian cities and infrastructures on a daily basis.
According to the European Commission, this financial assistance is part of a total €90 billion loan, of which €60 billion is dedicated to military assistance for Kyiv. The aid aims not only to provide equipment but also to ensure the country's defensive capacity in the face of growing threats.

Several sources emphasize that aid from the European Union is considered crucial in this context, allowing Ukraine to significantly improve its military response capabilities. The European Commission's statement highlights the necessity of supporting the country during this challenging period.
In addition to missiles and defense systems, the new funds will enable Ukraine to acquire additional defense material that is essential to deal with the current situation, marked by an increase in Russian military aggression. This assistance framework is structured to ensure that Ukraine continues to have access to the necessary armaments and resources for its defense.
The approval of this military aid comes at a significant moment, reinforcing European solidarity with Ukraine, as expressed in various official statements. The situation on the ground remains tense, as Ukrainian forces face daily challenges in their defense operations.
