The European Commission has launched enhanced oversight of ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox, requiring these platforms to comply with the regulations of the Digital Services Act (DSA). This decision follows their surpassing the threshold of 45 million monthly active users in the European Union.

According to data provided by the platforms themselves, they have been classified as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOP) and Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSE) based on the criteria set by European legislation. This classification entails the imposition of stricter requirements that must be adhered to by November.

Among the primary obligations that the platforms will face are the assessment and mitigation of systemic risks associated with their services and algorithmic systems. This includes issues related to the dissemination of illegal content and potential negative effects on children.

The platforms will need to implement specific measures to ensure user protection, particularly for minors, and to minimize the risks arising from their systems. The European Commission emphasized that compliance with these regulations is essential for online safety.

This initiative represents a significant step in the regulation of digital platforms, aiming to protect users and ensure a safer online environment. The three affected platforms must now actively work to meet the new obligations related to the DSA.
