European Space Agency warns of launcher shortage by 2030

Josef Aschbacher, the Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), has warned that Europe may experience a shortage of launchers by 2030. This statement was made during an interview recently published in the Financial Times.

Aschbacher highlighted that Europe's launch capacity is insufficient to meet the growing demand for satellites. He noted that last year, SpaceX launched 170 rockets, while Europe launched only 8.

This situation raises concerns about Europe’s ability to put its future satellites into orbit, which could have implications for its space program. The ESA is seeking solutions to address this situation in the coming decade.
