A letter addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been sent by twenty-two former international cricketers, including twenty-one ex-captains of the Pakistan cricket team. The letter calls for compliance with recent directives issued by the Supreme Court regarding the treatment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

On August 18, the Supreme Court ordered the government to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for examination and treatment by a multidisciplinary medical board. This directive was to be enacted within two days of the ruling, according to reports.

The cricketers have emphasized their appeal is made 'not as politicians' but as colleagues of Imran Khan, underlining that it reflects a collective concern for his welfare.

In their communication, the former cricket captains asserted that it is a matter of 'basic decency' for the government to ensure that the Supreme Court's orders are fulfilled. They stressed the importance of providing Khan with 'proper medical care' as he faces health issues while incarcerated.

This renewed appeal highlights the intersection of sports and politics in Pakistan, as prominent figures in cricket advocate for the adherence to judicial directives concerning the health of a leading political figure.
