FC Porto visited Gil Vicente on Saturday in the ninth round of Liga Portugal Betclic. The match in Barcelos marked a return to domestic competition for the blue-and-whites following their third loss in three Champions League games. Coach Farioli made a change to his line-up, starting André Silva instead of Samu, who began the match on the bench after being a starter in the Champions League.

Gil Vicente fielded the following eleven: Lucão, Ricardo Esgaio, Jonathan Buatu, Marvin Elimbi, David Moreira, Santi García, Andreas Lausen, Diogo Prioste, Murilo Souza, Walace França and Joelson Fernandes. The match proved evenly contested in its opening stages.

During the encounter, Marvin Elimbi received a red card for a hard foul on Pepê, the Brazilian winger who had been in an excellent position. The sending-off significantly altered the balance of the match.

FC Porto secured victory 1-0, bouncing back following their Champions League troubles. The numerical advantage gained through the expulsion allowed the blue-and-whites to settle the contest.
