Federal Councilor Parmelin explains rejection of the food initiative
Federal Councilor Parmelin outlines the reasons for rejecting the food initiative aimed at changing food production.

Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin has explained the Federal Council's rejection of the food initiative. The initiative aims for Swiss farmers to produce less animal-based and more plant-based products. However, according to Parmelin, the initiative chooses the wrong means to achieve this goal.
In his remarks, Parmelin also shared personal preferences, including for a St. Gallen bratwurst. He emphasized that such products should not disappear from the diet of Swiss farmers. Therefore, the rejection of the initiative also represents a reflection of tradition in Swiss culinary culture.
