Flávio Bolsonaro, the Liberal Party’s (PL) candidate for the presidency of Brazil, stated in an interview with TV Globo on Friday (16) that appointing his father, Jair Bolsonaro, to any position in a potential government is 'not on the radar.' The senator made these comments during a Q&A session when asked about the possible involvement of the former president in his administration.

Additionally, Flávio Bolsonaro dismissed the possibility of appointing his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, as chancellor. This statement was made in response to questions regarding the composition of his future government, should he be elected in the presidential elections scheduled for October 25.

Letícia Casado, a journalist for UOL, reported that despite Flávio's statements, members of the Brazilian diplomatic community perceive that the Itamaraty is on 'alert' regarding potential appointments that may occur after the elections.

Flávio emphasized that his father has never discussed with him the possibility of taking a position in the government, reiterating that this matter is not being considered by him. This position contrasts with earlier statements that indicated a consideration of appointing Jair Bolsonaro to some role.

Meanwhile, the fallout from Flávio's declarations has been closely followed on social media and by the press, leading to speculations about the political intentions of the Bolsonaro family in a post-election scenario.

Flávio's denial regarding the participation of his father and brother in a potential government also raises questions about the future political direction of the PL and how decisions will be made within the party as the election approaches.
