Forbes Editor Dismissed After Accepting $6 Million Payment

Randall Lane, the top editor of Forbes, left his position last month after being reportedly dismissed for accepting a $6 million payment from RJ Shook, the founder of Shook Research. This company has worked with Forbes to publish rankings of wealth advisers since 2016.

According to reports, Lane acknowledged that he should have disclosed the payment and described his failure to do so as a serious error in judgment, as noted in The New York Times.

The financial transaction followed Shook's sale of a majority stake in his company. The New York Times detailed that the payment in question was not disclosed to the publication's management.
