Freek Rikkerink (33), known from the Dutch singing duo Suzan & Freek, spoke about his experiences since being diagnosed with incurable lung cancer on the ‘Cor Potcast’. Rikkerink stated that he does not feel terminally ill and emphasized that he feels good both physically and mentally.

After his diagnosis, Rikkerink went through a tough mourning period, but he is trying to maintain a positive outlook. He wondered what he could do to meet the hopeful statements from doctors that he could be among the one percent of patients who recover. He indicated that he is focusing on what he can do instead of being limited by his illness.

Rikkerink mentioned that he draws strength from the stories of others and highlighted the importance of family. He said that he immediately called family members after realizing something was wrong. The singer described the impact of the illness on his life and how it has helped him focus on what is important.
